The most unrealistic sentiment existing is the concept of "unconditional love." This myth has been preached to us like a sermon of undeniable truth. When actually it is a falsehood rooted in fiction, a theme expressed in romance novels, poems and films.
This fantasy of love being unconditional has become so inherent those not believing or advocating the impossible practice are considered cold hearted or callous. This measuring stick of ultimate love is something we are all suppose to aspire to. If we don't achieve this unattainable concept we are incomplete, missing something incredibly important in our character.
The truth is no one can love unconditionally! The ability to love in all cases requires conditions for it to proliferate.
Everyone of us have ideals of what we expect for and from love. Fidelity, honesty, respect, unselfishness, sensitivity and intimacy. The list in some cases is endless and applies to all six types of love.
Stop expressing your love as unconditional trying to validate the fallacy. Cease with attempting to live up to a romantic notion that doesn't exist.
Love alone is enough!
